Guido Fawkes Settles Libel Case Over False Hamas Allegations Against Dale Vince

Political blogger Paul Staines agrees to pay damages and legal costs after a court ruling found his articles defamatory.

Paul Staines, editor of the Guido Fawkes website, will pay £9,995 in damages to Dale Vince and cover legal costs estimated at £100,000 to settle a High Court libel case.
The lawsuit stemmed from two articles and a 16-second clip published in March 2024 that misrepresented Vince's comments on Hamas during an October 2023 Times Radio interview.
A judge ruled that the articles falsely implied Vince described Hamas as 'freedom fighters,' determining the statements were defamatory and presented as fact rather than opinion.
Staines agreed to remove the articles and related social media posts and committed not to repeat the claims, though he did not issue an apology.
This settlement follows similar libel cases where Vince secured damages and apologies from the Daily Mail and GB News over comparable allegations.
