Águia de Marabá U-20 Bus Crashes Into Parked Truck on BR-153, Killing Staffer

Police are investigating disputed claims about whether the truck was properly signaled.

  • The rear-end collision occurred around 7:25 p.m. Thursday at km 591 between Santa Rita and Crixás/Fátima, according to the Federal Highway Police.
  • Physical trainer Hecton Alves, 33, died at the scene, and head coach Ronan Tyezer, 44, remains in the ICU in Gurupi in serious but stable condition, health officials said.
  • Of the 32 people on the bus, four were injured and 27 were unharmed, the Military Police reported.
