Águia de Marabá U-20 Bus Crash Leaves Fitness Coach Dead, Head Coach in ICU

Police have opened an inquiry focusing on whether the parked truck at the Tocantins crash site was properly signaled.

Overview

  • The team bus carrying 32 people collided with a stationary truck near Crixás/Santa Rita do Tocantins while returning from the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior.
  • Hecton Alves, 33, was confirmed dead and his body was taken for a wake in Pará, while head coach Ronan Tyezer, 44, remains in intensive care in Gurupi.
  • Other injured include Ramon Nilton Vieira, 31, Renye Silva Farias, 41, and an 11-year-old child, who are reported in stable condition.
  • Most players were not seriously injured and arrived back in Marabá overnight, where they were received by family, friends, and supporters.
  • Civil Police conducted a forensic examination of the scene, took voluntary statements, and said those involved will respond to the investigation at liberty, as the truck driver’s claim of proper signaling is disputed by the club.
