Guben's Trial Living Initiative Attracts New Residents

Two participants have decided to settle in Guben following a successful trial living project aimed at reversing population decline.

Guben, a small town near the Polish border, has been experiencing a steady population decline, dropping from over 25,000 in 2000 to around 16,600 in 2022.
The trial living project offered participants the chance to live in fully furnished apartments for two to four weeks, covering only utility costs.
The initiative received about 100 applications, with 16 parties selected to participate, highlighting a growing interest in smaller town living.
Affordable housing and the town's family-friendly environment were major attractions for participants, many of whom are seeking to escape city life.
Following the trial, two women have decided to move permanently to Guben, one securing local employment and the other working remotely.
