Overview
- Guben has selected 20 successful applications that add up to 43 people including partners and family to take part in a new round of Probewohnen starting in early August.
- The city received more than 120 applications for this edition and used a selection process to narrow participation to households it considers a good fit.
- Participants will live in Guben for several weeks to experience work, services and everyday life before deciding if they want to move there permanently.
- For the first time the program pairs each temporary resident with a local 'Pate' who will act as a personal contact, show favorite places and help with practical questions.
- Guben presents the scheme as a recruitment tool for a border town on the Neiße and officials say the model follows similar efforts used by other municipalities in Brandenburg to attract new residents.
