Guardians Top Prospect Travis Bazzana Leaves Triple-A Game With Left Oblique Soreness

Cleveland previously decided he would skip the Arizona Fall League to focus on offseason training.

Overview

  • Travis Bazzana exited Triple-A Columbus’ win at St. Paul with left oblique soreness after going 0-for-2 with two strikeouts and was removed before the bottom of the fifth inning, per MLB.com.
  • The severity and timetable are not yet known, and the issue follows an internal right oblique strain that sidelined him from May 21 to July 18.
  • Promoted to Columbus on Aug. 11, the 2024 No. 1 overall pick has posted a .225/.420/.438 line with four homers in 26 Triple-A games, including a 24.2% walk rate.
  • In his first full pro season across three levels, Bazzana has slashed .245/.389/.424 with 39 RBIs over 84 games.
  • He is not scheduled for Arizona Fall League play after a mutual decision with the organization and will spend time training in Australia before working at the Guardians’ Arizona complex.
