Guardia Civil Seizes 906 Kilos of Hashish in Tenerife and 153 Kilos of Marijuana in Toledo

A separate arrest in Alicante a day earlier linked a violent-attack suspect to local cannabis distribution.

Overview

  • In San Isidro (Alicante) on December 25, officers detained a 25-year-old man and his 23-year-old partner as they left home with a suitcase containing 6 kilos of marijuana and a handbag with €12,000 in cash.
  • Investigators searching the residence found vacuum-sealing and weighing equipment, phones, documentation, and evidence implicating the man in the August 13 Cox assault that sent a 40-year-old to emergency surgery.
  • The pair were charged with drug trafficking, the man also faces serious injury charges, and a court in Orihuela released both with charges pending.
  • In La Orotava (Tenerife) early December 26, agents stopped a van showing heavy rear sag and seized 23 bales of hashish weighing 906 kilos, detaining the 47-year-old driver after a brief attempt to flee.
  • In Cabañas de la Sagra (Toledo) later December 26, a 36-year-old was arrested with 153 kilos of vacuum-packed marijuana bound for distribution in the Community of Madrid, a load valued at about €300,000.
