Overview

• After a citizen report, SEPRONA officers discovered four border-collie-mix dogs chained in unsanitary conditions in a wooded area of Val de San Vicente.
• The animals were held on short two-metre chains with no access to food or water, had matted coats encrusted with feces and one was missing an eye.
• Guardia Civil has opened a criminal investigation into an unidentified 57-year-old suspect on suspicion of animal cruelty.
• The rescued dogs are now recovering in a local shelter under veterinary supervision and care.
• This case adds to a series of 2025 SEPRONA operations enforcing Spain’s animal-welfare laws and targeting neglect and abandonment.
