Overview

  • The investigation began in January after officers detected constant consumer traffic around a Melide hospitality venue used as a covert distribution point.
  • Five suspects—a 30-year-old man and his 27-year-old partner from Arzúa, two women from Melide (55 and 23) and a 50-year-old supplier from Vilanova de Arousa—were arrested in coordinated July 5 raids.
  • Authorities seized over 180 grams of cocaine, 1.5 kilograms of marijuana, 109 grams of loose buds, 40 grams of hashish, more than €37,000 in cash, two vehicles, five phones and an indoor cannabis plantation.
  • Investigators determined the ring supplied four rural Galician comarcas—Terras de Melide, Arzúa, Ulloa and Deza—through undercover deliveries from the Melide front business.
  • The Juzgado de Instrucción nº 1 de Arzúa ordered one suspect’s pretrial detention while the other four were released under charges including drug trafficking, money laundering and criminal association.
