Overview
- Hundreds of vans, caravans and camperized vehicles converged on Cordovilla (Tobarra) around 11 p.m. intending to start an unauthorized macro party.
- Officers dissuaded the gathering at that site, and attendees reorganized via social networks before moving toward the Sierra del Segura and the vicinity of Férez.
- Guardia Civil estimates put the caravan at about 1,000 vehicles, causing bottlenecks on access roads and crowding nearby fuel stations.
- An operational deployment has kept access to Férez open so far, with tensions noted but no serious incidents confirmed.
- Férez mayor Francisco Javier Jaime Espinosa said residents were initially alarmed when vehicles began arriving around 2 a.m. and urged calm, noting last New Year’s a similar gathering drew about 1,500 vehicles near Ciudad Real.
