Overview

  • Guardia Civil agents intercepted a Seat León carrying 700 kg of stolen telephone cable from the JabugoCastaño del Robledo line and detained the driver in Huelva.
  • Two specialized thieves were arrested in Orgaz and Sonseca for the May 4 theft of copper wiring on the Madrid–Sevilla high-speed rail that halted 21 trains and left over 6,300 passengers stranded.
  • Adif has valued the stolen rail cable and related infrastructure damages at about €25,000 following the coordinated heist.
  • Authorities seized a vehicle still registered to a deceased owner and tools such as large bolt cutters, power saws and night-vision equipment before returning recovered cable to its rightful owner.
  • The Unidad Orgánica de Policía Judicial and supporting Guardia Civil units have remitted cases to court and continue probing wider cable-theft rings for further accomplices.
