Guanajuato Electoral Court Publishes Gender-Violence Case Summary, Clears PAN in Separate Parity Review

The rulings apply gender-focused standards that preserve earlier findings against PRI.

Overview

  • The Tribunal Estatal Electoral de Guanajuato released the mandated synthesis of case TEEG-PES-44/2025 as a form of symbolic reparation for gender-based political violence against a female councilor.
  • Sanctions in that case include a public admonition, a written apology, a mandatory course of at least 10 hours on women’s rights, free expression and VPG, and entry in state and national sanction registries for 18 months.
  • Magistrates found the responsible party spread sexualized stereotypes and personal disparagement that undermined the complainant’s dignity and participation, conduct the court deemed outside legitimate political debate.
  • In case TEG-PES-53/2025, the court unanimously determined no gender-based political violence attributable to PAN regarding the 2023–2024 campaign finance parity requirement.
  • The panel noted PAN demonstrated equal distribution of public resources between female and male candidacies, kept prior responsibility findings for PRI unchanged, and ordered a certified copy sent to the Sala Regional Monterrey.
