Göteborg Film Festival Unveils 'Truth Tickets' Polygraph Experiment

Festival leaders frame truth as a currency with consequences for lying.

Overview

  • Public sessions are scheduled at Gothenburg’s Nordstan on January 16–18 and at Olof Palmes plats on January 24–26.
  • Participants volunteer for a live test inside a purpose-built interrogation room equipped with cameras, lighting, and physiological monitoring.
  • Those assessed as truthful receive Truth Tickets that can be redeemed for festival screenings during the 49th edition running January 23 to February 1.
  • Polygraph examinations will be conducted by specialist Ørjan Hesjedal.
  • A promotional short directed by Mats Udd features Alexander Karim and David Dencik, and the initiative complements a Truth Focus film showcase including titles from Kaouther Ben Hania, Petter Næss, Kirill Serebrennikov, and Jim Sheridan with David Merriman.
