Overview

• The Gorkhaland Territorial Administration directed all government, aided, private and missionary institutions, from primary schools to general and technical colleges, to close from October 8 to 10.
• The order follows heavy rainfall and landslides on October 4–5 that disrupted connectivity across Darjeeling and Kalimpong under the GTA.
• GTA chief executive Anit Thapa said areas remain cut off with no road connectivity, with damage assessments underway and a temporary Bailey bridge planned.
