Overview

  • The GST Council’s new structure begins September 22, shifting many milk products to either tax‑free or a 5% rate as part of a two‑slab overhaul.
  • Amul has reduced MRPs on more than 700 packs and says the full benefit is passed on, with examples including 100g butter to ₹58 (from ₹62), 1L ice‑cream tub to ₹180 (from ₹195) and 1kg processed cheese block to ₹545 (from ₹575).
  • Amul communicated the new rates to distributors, retailers and Amul Parlours, and highlighted cuts across butter, ghee, paneer, cheese, UHT milk, chocolates, ice cream and frozen snacks.
  • Karnataka Milk Federation’s Nandini brand published revised prices on 21 products effective today, such as 1L ghee to ₹610 (from ₹650), 500g unsalted butter to ₹286 (from ₹305) and 1kg processed cheese to ₹497 (from ₹530).
  • Kerala’s Milma announced MRP reductions tied to the new GST, including 1L ghee to ₹675 (from ₹720), butter to ₹225 (from ₹240), 500g paneer to ₹234 (from ₹245) and a 1L vanilla ice‑cream to ₹196 (from ₹220), while Mother Dairy said it is cutting prices on UHT milk, paneer, ghee, butter, cheese and ice cream.
