Overview

• Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) has been awarded the contract to build five Next Generation Corvettes for the Indian Navy, valued at approximately ₹25,000 crore.
• The corvettes will feature advanced capabilities, including surface-to-surface missile strikes, anti-missile defense, anti-submarine warfare, and energy-efficient green warship design principles.
• GRSE has a proven track record, having delivered over 110 warships, and is concurrently working on multiple naval projects, including patrol vessels, frigates, and survey vessels.
• Bangladesh has canceled a $21 million tugboat order with GRSE, citing diplomatic tensions, but the company confirmed the cancellation represents only 0.8% of its ₹22,680.75 crore order book.
• GRSE successfully completed sea trials of its indigenous 30mm Naval Surface Gun, showcasing its growing capabilities in advanced weapon manufacturing.
