Overview
- The 110-metre, 3,400-tonne INS Ikshak is fitted with an AUV, ROV, DGPS and digital side-scan sonar to conduct full-scale coastal and deep-water surveys.
- Ikshak is the first large survey vessel in its class designed with dedicated accommodation for women officers and sailors.
- Built using integrated construction techniques, the ship is powered by twin marine diesel engines and features bow and stern thrusters.
- Sandhayak-class vessels can support helicopter operations, low-intensity combat, hospital ship functions and humanitarian assistance and disaster relief missions.
- A fourth SVL remains under construction after the earlier deliveries of lead ship INS Sandhayak and its sister ship INS Nirdeshak.
