Overview
- The Groton Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call at 7:21 p.m. reporting a man in the water at Spicer’s Marina in Noank.
- Police said the victim had been in the water about 15 minutes and was losing feeling in his limbs when responders arrived.
- The first officer reached the icy dock, held the man’s wrist to keep him afloat and requested additional units.
- Officers and the friend cleared ice and pulled him onto the dock, with Noank Fire, Groton Long Point police and fire, Mystic River Ambulance and Groton Ambulance assisting.
- The man was taken to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London with injuries described as non-life-threatening, and police released body-camera video of the rescue.
