Groningen Quake Damage Reports Reach 3,346 as NCG Keeps Reinforcement Plan Unchanged

Officials are holding to the current reinforcement plan pending a joint assessment of the Zeerijp quake's impact.

Overview

  • IMG’s final update lists 3,346 damage reports, including 2,334 from the defined effect area of the 3.4-magnitude quake.
  • There are 81 reports of acutely unsafe situations, with inspectors ordering immediate measures in 11 cases and three inspections still pending.
  • NCG director Marieke Ferwerda says the sequence of the housing-strengthening operation will not be adjusted at this time.
  • Ferwerda acknowledges many homes have not yet been reinforced and says residents will be given clearer planning and perspective.
  • SodM projects completion of the strengthening program could stretch to 2034, while the NCG expects most work finished by 2028 with an outflow to 2032.
