A strike would shut down many Kroger locations.

Overview

  • United Food and Commercial Workers locals in Indiana, Colorado and Southern California activated strike authorizations covering over 100,000 Kroger and Albertsons workers nationwide.
  • Members rejected tentative contracts that featured sub-inflation wage hikes, delayed spousal health coverage and weakened seniority protections.
  • Unions accuse both chains of unfair labor practices including surveillance, intimidation and retaliation during months of stalled bargaining.
  • If called, walkouts could disrupt curbside pickup, deli and pharmacy services during the grocery sector’s peak summer period.
  • Negotiations are scheduled for June 25–27 with unions leveraging strike authority to press for higher pay, better staffing and expanded health and pension benefits.
