Overview
- New York City issued a Gridlock Alert for the Ecuador–Germany match on Thursday and put special traffic rules in place to move fans to MetLife Stadium quickly.
- NJ Transit limited Penn Station service to ticketholders in a pre-match boarding window running from about 11:23 a.m. to 3:07 p.m., and again used reserved train operations after the game.
- After the match, many eastbound NJ Transit trains that would go to Manhattan will terminate at Newark Penn or Newark Broad Street roughly from 6:36 p.m. to 9:08 p.m., forcing transfers for some riders.
- The city closed targeted Midtown blocks, set up dedicated shuttle-bus corridors from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and restricted truck deliveries between 30th and 60th Streets to prioritize shuttle and fan flows.
- Officials urged non‑ticketholders to use PATH, NJ Transit buses, light rail or alternate routes and said the measures are temporary and being adjusted based on experience from earlier match days.
