• Prosecutors said Groom admitted during questioning that he stabbed Monteiro, 18, and drew a map directing investigators to a burial site on his family’s Rehoboth property.
• Human remains consistent with Monteiro were recovered about 20 yards from a shed and approximately five feet underground, with officials awaiting formal identification and autopsy results.
• In court, prosecutors said a stab wound to Monteiro’s chest broke the knife blade and that Groom described digging a hole and covering the grave with brush.
