Popovich suffered a mild stroke on November 2, 2024, and has been away from the team since the incident.
Interim head coach Mitch Johnson has been leading the Spurs, who currently hold a 24-33 record this season.
Popovich, the NBA's all-time wins leader and a five-time NBA champion, turned 76 in January and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2023.
While Popovich expressed hope for a potential return to coaching in the future, no decisions about next season have been made.
