Overview
- In a 60 Minutes interview, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene said a pipe bomb threat at her home and direct death threats against her son followed Trump labeling her a “traitor.”
- Greene said her office has reported 773 death threats to U.S. Capitol Police since 2021 and that threats shifted after she backed releasing Jeffrey Epstein–related records.
- She recounted that Trump was “extremely angry” she signed a discharge petition to force release of Epstein files and told her making the DOJ materials public “was going to hurt people.”
- Greene asserted many House Republicans privately mocked Trump before the 2024 primary but now avoid crossing him because they fear retaliation on his Truth Social platform.
- She said she alerted Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance to the threats, received a “we’ll look into it” from Vance and an “extremely unkind” reply from Trump, and reiterated she will resign Jan. 5 with no plans to seek higher office.
