Overview

  • Starting July 21, cruise passengers docking at Santorini and Mykonos face a mandatory €20 charge per visit, while those at smaller ports pay €5.
  • MSC Cruises and other lines will automatically bill the fees to passengers’ onboard accounts and remit payments to port authorities, with refunds for passengers who stay aboard.
  • Seasonal rate tiers reduce the cruise tax to €12 at major islands and €4 elsewhere during April, May and October, and to €4 and €1 respectively in winter months.
  • On the mainland, overnight levies range from €0.50 to €4 per room per night based on hotel star ratings, payable at check-in.
  • Authorities say the new levies will fund critical upgrades to local services and support climate adaptation, environmental protection and disaster prevention.
