Overview

  • Effective July 21, cruise lines must collect per-passenger disembarkation charges of €1 to €20 based on season and island.
  • During high season on Mykonos and Santorini, disembarkation fees are €20 per person with an additional €5 embarkation charge on other islands.
  • Shoulder season rates range from €12 on the most popular islands and €3 elsewhere, while winter fees drop to €4 and €1 respectively.
  • Cruise operators front the levy and remit payments quarterly to the Ministry of Shipping to fund port infrastructure and environmental initiatives.
  • Greek port authorities can bar vessels that fail to pay the sustainable tourism surcharge before docking.
