Greater Manchester Rush-Hour: Lanes Reopen After M62 Crash, M61 Collision and A666 Police Incident

Residual delays persist across the network after emergency clearances.

Overview

  • All lanes have reopened on the M62 eastbound between junctions 11 and 12 after a crash that closed one lane and caused long queues stretching back toward the M6.
  • National Highways earlier reported severe congestion on the M62 between junctions 9 and 11 with delays of about 30 minutes and advised that normal conditions were expected around 10:15–10:30am.
  • Greater Manchester Police concluded a welfare incident on the A666 near Bradford Street with a man taken safely from the area, and the northbound closure between Raikes Lane and Lower Bridgeman Street has been lifted.
  • Traffic was briefly held on the M61 southbound between junctions 5 and 4 following a three-vehicle collision, with police reporting no injuries and delays that were subsequently easing.
  • Knock-on queues affected the M6 and local routes, and Bee Network warned of delays to services including 6, 22, 36, 471, 501 and 524 due to the A666 disruption.
