Greater Bengaluru Authority Orders District Master Plan and Launches Ward One Drive

The package seeks to strengthen agency accountability through new SOPs, to expand emergency coverage with nine fire stations and to begin a multi-agency Ward One cleanup.

Overview

  • K. B. Gowda directed officials to prepare a comprehensive master plan for Bengaluru Urban district that covers drinking water, road links and underground drainage, a step meant to align infrastructure with rapid city growth.
  • The GBA approved nine new fire stations to raise the network to 29 and ordered mapping of high-risk areas so officials can propose more stations based on future needs.
  • A uniform policy and standard operating procedure for road excavation and restoration were ordered to hold agencies responsible for repairs, define restoration standards, and enable cost recovery and penalties.
  • The authority instructed BMTC to run GPS-enabled feeder buses on fixed routes within 2–3 km of Metro stations to improve first- and last-mile connectivity and told officials to explore integrating taxis and autos with BMTC services.
  • The Ward One campaign will start on November 1 across 43 wards with multi-agency teams, commissioner action plans, resident involvement and dedicated budgets to clear waste, fill potholes, repair junctions and remove overgrowth on railway and K-RIDE land.
