  • Cal OES brought a magnitude 7.0 earthquake simulator to Cal State Fullerton on Oct. 15 to boost public readiness ahead of the drill.
  • The annual one‑minute exercise, launched in 2008, has millions registered across thousands of schools, businesses, hospitals and other sites.
  • MyShake users statewide were set to receive a test message at 10:16 a.m. Thursday as part of the coordinated ShakeOut activities.
  • Experts urge people to drop to hands and knees, take cover under sturdy furniture, and hold on rather than run to doorways or outside.
  • The tour is slated to visit San Diego, Los Angeles and Sacramento next, and residents are urged to keep at least a three‑day emergency kit.
