Overview

  • The container was unearthed to clear the site for a new children's cancer centre, decades earlier than the “hundreds of years” originally envisaged.
  • Two competition-winning youngsters, guided by Diana, selected the keepsakes that went into the capsule.
  • Recovered items included a Kylie Minogue CD, a calculator, a pocket television, British coins, tree seeds, a newspaper and a 1990s passport.
  • The capsule was sealed during a cornerstone ceremony at the hospital’s main entrance in 1991.
  • The opening echoes an 1872 ceremony by Princess Alexandra, whose own GOSH time capsule has still not been found.
