Overview
- Grayscale activated in-kind creation and redemption across ten ETPs on October 21, 2026, allowing specified investors to contribute eligible digital assets in exchange for fund shares.
- The rollout covers Bitcoin, Ethereum Staking, Solana, XRP, Dogecoin, Avalanche, Chainlink, Hyperliquid, Sui and Zcash products, with published approximate minimums that range roughly from $80,300 to $364,800 per product.
- In-kind transfers will be executed via Authorized Participants and third-party custodians, which means the fund can accept tokens directly and avoid buying or selling on public crypto markets when shares are created or redeemed.
- Grayscale says the change can lower execution costs and reduce self-custody burdens while enabling uses like margin, collateral and estate planning, but the firm warns of tax uncertainty, market impact, slippage, facilitator fees and custody or counterparty risks.
- The move follows the SEC’s July 29, 2025 approval of in-kind mechanics for spot crypto ETPs and could shift operational flows and cost structures in the crypto ETP market, though the high minimums make the option mainly relevant to larger or institutionally advised investors.
