Overview
- A partnership announced Oct. 15–16 between Grayscale and Republic makes the Grayscale DeFi Fund (DEFG), the Grayscale Decentralized AI Fund, and the Grayscale Data Network Trust available on Republic’s platform to eligible investors.
- The DeFi Fund (DEFG) is a market‑cap weighted basket holding UNI, AAVE, ONDO, ENA, CRV and LDO, while the Decentralized AI Fund holds NEAR, TAO, RENDER and FIL and the DATA trust provides exposure to the DATA token.
- U.S. investors must be verified accredited investors under Rule 506(c) and each offering requires a $2,500 minimum, with a separate Regulation S channel used for non‑U.S. participants.
- Republic’s offering documents state the securities are private placements not registered with the SEC, carry transfer and resale restrictions, have limited secondary liquidity and expose investors to custody, protocol, cybersecurity and regulatory risks.
- Grayscale and Republic say the deal gives qualified investors earlier access to thematic crypto exposure typically used by institutions, but early market reaction was muted and prospective buyers should review recent 2026 portfolio rebalances and current allocations before investing.
