Overview

• Dawood Zakaria, an alleged associate of the Alameddine crime gang, was critically injured, and solicitor Sylvan Singh was wounded in a targeted shooting in Granville, Sydney.
• The attack occurred on May 25, 2025, as their vehicle was stopped at a traffic light under the M4 overpass on Church Street.
• Two other passengers in the vehicle, Samimjan Azari and Levi Vitukawalu, were uninjured but were arrested and charged with firearm offences after weapons were found in the car.
• Police believe the attackers used a Mercedes, which was later found burnt out in nearby Merrylands West, as the getaway vehicle.
• Strike Force Arrino has been established to investigate the shooting, which is part of escalating gangland violence in Sydney, with three such incidents reported in the last fortnight.
