The record-breaking performance came in a thrilling race against Olympic 1500m champion Cole Hocker, who finished second with a personal best of 7:23.14.
Fisher's time surpassed the previous world record of 7:23.81, set by Ethiopia's Lamecha Girma in 2023.
The victory earned Fisher a $25,000 prize and further solidified his status as one of the top American distance runners.
Fisher, who won Olympic bronze in the 5,000m and 10,000m in 2024, credited his strategy and timing for overcoming Hocker’s strong finishing kick.
