Overview
- A Suffolk County grand jury charged Stanley Luc Cadet, 27, and Kayla Lopez, 28, with second-degree manslaughter, vehicular assault, reckless endangerment, reckless driving, excessive speed, and failure to obey a traffic control device.
- Prosecutors say the drivers sped side-by-side at roughly 100 mph through a steady red light on Union Boulevard before colliding near the Route 231 overpass.
- Investigators estimate Cadet’s Hyundai at 99 mph and Lopez’s Infiniti at 108 mph over about a half-mile, after which Lopez’s car hit multiple telephone poles.
- Passenger Anna Wilson, 22, was ejected and pronounced dead, and multiple others were injured, including Brianna Dillon, who suffered serious injuries.
