Grand Floridian Main Entrance Reopens Oct. 19

Restoring the familiar guardhouse eases guest arrivals into Disney’s new roundabout traffic pattern.

Overview

  • Disney confirmed Wednesday that the Grand Floridian’s main entrance will reopen on Monday, October 19, 2026, returning arrivals to the resort’s existing guardhouse.
  • Permit filings show the finished roadway extends roughly 200 feet to connect the hotel drive to the southern roundabout and that the current guardhouse will remain in place.
  • Walt Disney World opened the first two roundabouts on Floridian Way on August 10, 2026, a change intended to keep traffic moving continuously instead of stopping at signals and reduce queuing during peak check-in times.
  • Major work will continue after the entrance reopens with Central Florida Tourism Oversight District documents listing World Drive North Phase III completion for December 21, 2027, and Disney saying renovations to the covered porte cochere will run into early 2027.
  • Permit plans also repurpose the existing Floridian Way as a one-lane, one-way exit for cast member parking and add a separate wedding pavilion entrance, moves intended to separate scheduled event traffic from guest arrivals and reduce conflicts for staff and visitors.
