Granada Provincial Council Acquires Former Bank of Spain Building

The sale proceeds are earmarked to acquire the Cubo building for new judicial facilities in the city.

Overview

  • The Diputación de Granada finalized a deal with the Junta de Andalucía to buy the former Banco de España building on Granada’s Gran Vía for roughly nine million euros.
  • The provincial council will fund the acquisition with €5.4 million from its own budgets and a €3.7 million supplementary credit.
  • The building, currently occupied by the Fiscalía Superior de Andalucía, will house the Servicio Provincial Tributario alongside cultural spaces supporting Granada’s 2031 European Capital of Culture bid.
  • The Fiscalía Superior de Andalucía will relocate to the Real Chancillería in Plaza Nueva to free up the Gran Vía property.
  • The Junta de Andalucía will reinvest the full nine million euros into purchasing the Cubo building to consolidate most of Granada’s judicial services.
