Overview
- Margarita Álvarez Ortiz, the Equality councillor in Pinos Puente for Izquierda Unida, faces charges of obstruction of justice, threats and injuries, according to the Provincial Prosecutor of Granada.
- Prosecutors allege that on June 14, 2023, Álvarez and another woman attacked a neighbor as she left a hair salon to pressure the victim’s daughter not to testify, causing contusions and weeks of impaired daily life.
- Two months earlier, the accused allegedly went to the victim’s home and issued threats intended to stop the daughter from appearing in court, according to the prosecutor’s filing.
- The case is before Investigative Court No. 1 of Granada, where the prosecution seeks four years in prison, disqualification from suffrage, and €4,880 in compensation.
- A separate complaint accepted by Investigative Court No. 2 accuses the councillor of threatening a former municipal employee and unlawfully accessing her corporate email, with witnesses now being summoned after the worker was suspended in October 2025.
