Gran Mendoza Begins Planned Water Cut for Final La Puntilla Upgrade

The shutdown completes La Puntilla upgrades expected to end general metropolitan cutoffs.

Overview

  • AYSAM started the scheduled interruption at 04:00, reporting works at La Puntilla are proceeding as planned with a 12–15 hour window and a formal end around 16:00.
  • Full normalization is expected to take 24–48 hours after the cut ends as household reserves are replenished and network pressures stabilize.
  • The outage covers six departments, including sections 1–8 of Ciudad de Mendoza, central/west/north Las Heras, and parts of Godoy Cruz, Guaymallén, Luján de Cuyo and Maipú.
  • The final stage refuncionalizes drainage and disconnects aqueducts of 1,100, 900, 750 and 600 mm to enable the new macrodistribution toward Alto Godoy and Alto Benegas.
  • The 2025 program installed 11 electromagnetic flow meters and a new valve system to improve measurement and pressure management, with three water trucks assigned to hospitals and dialysis centers.
