Grainger Leaves Wales for Norway Head Coach Role

Grainger's departure prompts search for new Wales manager, first Norway match set for February.

Gemma Grainger has resigned as Wales Women's manager to become the head coach of Norway's national team.
Grainger will replace Norway's interim coach Leif Gunnar Smerud, who took over after former head coach Hege Riise stepped down following a disappointing Women's World Cup exit.
Under Grainger's leadership, Wales nearly qualified for their first major tournament, but were defeated in the 2023 World Cup play-offs.
Grainger's first competitive matches as Norway's head coach will be in February against Croatia in a Nations League promotion/relegation match.
The Football Association of Wales is now in the process of recruiting a new manager.
