Graham's Family Dairy Milk Recalled After Veterinary Medicines, Including Penicillin, Detected

Regulators have ordered a do-not-consume recall and told shoppers to return affected bottles for refunds because the contamination could harm people with penicillin allergies.

Overview

  • Graham’s Family Dairy issued the recall after tests reported on Wednesday showed veterinary medicines, including antibiotics such as penicillin, in its semi-skimmed milk.
  • The recall covers one-pint, one-litre and two-litre packs of semi-skimmed milk bearing a use-by/best-before date of 31 July 2026.
  • Major supermarkets that stock the milk — including Tesco, Asda, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, Home Bargains and SPAR — have been asked to display point-of-sale notices and accept returns for full refunds.
  • The Food Standards Agency and Food Standards Scotland warned the milk may pose a health risk to people with penicillin or antibiotic allergies and listed symptoms that can appear quickly, including hives, swelling, breathing difficulty and, rarely, anaphylaxis.
  • Graham’s described the action as precautionary and said no other products or dates are affected while authorities have not publicly disclosed a cause or detailed an investigation into how the medicines entered the milk.
