GrabCab Secures 10-Year Licence as Singapore's Sixth Taxi Operator

The company will launch operations on April 9, 2025, with plans for a green fleet and initiatives to address unmet consumer demand.

GrabCab has been granted a 10-year licence by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) to operate as Singapore's sixth taxi operator, starting April 9, 2025.
The company is required to meet a minimum fleet size of 800 taxis within three years and comply with fare structure and vehicle identification regulations.
GrabCab plans to introduce a green fleet of hybrid and electric vehicles, aligning with Singapore's sustainability goals.
To attract drivers, GrabCab will sponsor Taxi Driver’s Vocational Licence fees and provide six months of National Taxi Association membership for new drivers.
This development follows a decade-long decline in Singapore's taxi fleet and comes after Grab's failed attempt to acquire Trans-cab in 2023 due to competition concerns.
