Goyal Heads to Doha for QatarIndia Joint Commission With CEPA Terms in Focus

The visit targets agreement on CEPA terms to unlock smoother trade.

Overview

  • India’s commerce minister will be in Doha on October 6–7 to co-chair the QatarIndia Joint Commission meeting with Qatar’s commerce minister, Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al Thani.
  • Talks are expected to chart the way forward on finalizing the Terms of Reference for a proposed Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement.
  • Officials will review two-way trade, estimated at over USD 14 billion in 2024–25, with an emphasis on resolving tariff and non-tariff barriers.
  • A business delegation will join for the first IndiaQatar Joint Business Council meeting and engagements with Qatar Chamber, Qatar Financial Centre, Invest Qatar and Qatar Free Zones Authority.
  • Planned discussions include cooperation across finance, agriculture, environment, tourism, culture and healthcare.
