Overview

  • The government has released £75 million in capital funding to more than 170 hospices across England for the 2025/26 financial year.
  • Grants will fund facility modernisation with specially adapted beds, separate family rooms, communal lounges, technology upgrades and solar panels.
  • St Mary’s Hospice in Ulverston and St John’s Hospice in Lancaster will receive £258,538 and £379,872 respectively.
  • Three East Lancashire hospices—East Lancashire Hospice, Rossendale Hospice and Pendleside Hospice—share grants of £256,539, £75,687 and £285,768, while Derian House Children’s Hospice gains £345,812.
  • This cash injection follows a £25 million tranche in February and forms part of the government’s Plan for Change and NHS 10 Year Health Plan to shift end-of-life care into community settings.
