  • A three-judge in-house panel formed by then CJI Sanjiv Khanna indicted Varma after investigators found several burnt sacks of cash during a March fire at his Delhi home
  • Varma has refused to resign and was transferred back to the Allahabad High Court without any judicial duties pending the Monsoon session
  • Under Article 217 of the Constitution, Varma could resign directly to the President and retain his pension and other retirement benefits
  • The Monsoon session of Parliament runs from July 21 to August 12, when the impeachment motion will be tabled and debated
