Government Says PMMVY Pays 59 Lakh Mothers This Fiscal as Biometric Rollout Expands

Officials link the latest gains to biometric enrolment via the Poshan Tracker.

Overview

  • In FY 2025–26, 59.19 lakh beneficiaries received Rs 2,022.08 crore in maternity benefits as of January 8, according to the Women and Child Development Ministry.
  • Since the scheme’s 2017 launch, cumulative disbursements total 4.26 crore beneficiaries and Rs 20,060 crore via direct transfers.
  • Mandatory facial authentication for new enrolments began on May 21, 2025, with 23.60 lakh beneficiaries enrolled through the Poshan Tracker’s Facial Recognition System and coverage in 740+ districts.
  • The Poshan Tracker ‘Due List’, introduced on July 1, 2025, has facilitated 15.81 lakh enrolments and accounts for over three-quarters of recent registrations.
  • An integrated grievance module and helpline 1515 report resolution of over 85% of 60,000+ complaints older than 30 days, following a PRAGATI review where the Prime Minister urged full inclusion and prevention of ineligible payments.
