Overview
- The Commerce and Industry Ministry disclosed on Friday that ₹36,754 crore had been disbursed to PLI beneficiary companies as of June 30, 2026.
- DPIIT reported the schemes have attracted ₹2.58 lakh crore in actual investment, generated production and sales of ₹23.79 lakh crore, supported exports of ₹15.53 lakh crore, and created more than 14.57 lakh direct and indirect jobs.
- Sector payments are uneven with large-scale electronics receiving the biggest share (about ₹19,090.98 crore) while the pharmaceuticals stream received around ₹6,662 crore and the ACC battery sector received no disbursals.
- The pharma-focused PLIs have over‑performed targets with ₹46,744 crore of investment, ₹4.02 lakh crore in cumulative sales and ₹2.57 lakh crore in exports, and the bulk-drugs PLI shows ₹5,210.74 crore invested and 39 projects commissioned for 28 APIs/KSMs.
- The government points to deeper localisation and technology transfers with global firms producing items such as AI servers and medical imaging gear, and it has introduced an NSWS e-Production visa module to speed foreign technical hires for factory work; the PLI programme was launched in 2020 with an approved outlay of ₹1.91 lakh crore.
