Government Returns R$2.82 Billion to INSS Beneficiaries Over Unauthorized Deductions

The latest INSS balance shows repayments via an administrative route with claims accepted until 14 February 2026.

Overview

  • Repayments total R$2,820,799,182.93 based on data through 26 December, covering 4,137,951 accepted contests by retirees and pensioners.
  • A total of 6,362,898 contestations were filed, with 6,231,376 beneficiaries denying authorization and 131,522 acknowledging it.
  • Authorities formally queried 44 entities, which submitted documentation in 1,592,421 cases for review.
  • Contests were lodged mainly through Meu INSS (3,440,069; 54.1%), followed by Correios service desks (2,259,424; 35.5%) and Central 135 (419,924; 6.6%).
  • The administrative reimbursement covers deductions from March 2020 to March 2025, while associative debits remain suspended and PF, CGU and a congressional CPMI continue investigations.
