Overview

  • The bodies of 40-year-old talathi Ramchandra Sahebrao Pardhi and 17-year-old college student Rupali Santosh Khutan were recovered on June 24 at the base of a gorge in Junnar taluka, Pune district.
  • A suicide note attributed to Pardhi accuses his wife and her family of infidelity and mistreatment and is the focus of the ongoing probe.
  • Villagers had reported Pardhi’s car parked near the cliff edge for several days and found a pair of slippers before weather forced a temporary halt to the search.
  • Khutan’s family had filed an abduction complaint with Junnar police ten days earlier and Pardhi’s wife lodged a missing person’s report at Tofkhana station.
  • Pune Rural police say both were in contact before disappearing and are investigating the timeline and motives behind the suspected suicide pact.
