- Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu inaugurated the Udan Yatri Cafe at Vijayawada airport and was seen serving tea to passengers.
- He said the cafes will be introduced at airports across India in phases as part of efforts to broaden access to air travel.
- The initiative followed passenger feedback on exorbitant airport food prices, with earlier outlets already operating in Kolkata, Chennai, Bhubaneswar, Ahmedabad, Itanagar and Pune.
- Since 2016, the UDAN scheme has added more than 630 routes linking tier-2 and tier-3 cities, according to the minister.
- He also announced plans for new Vijayawada connections, including a proposed Singapore service and a three-month target to complete the new integrated terminal, with timelines and operations still developing.
